Clean Energy Campaign Training Program
How to Campaign on Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is key to securing a safer, brighter future for children everywhere. So how do we campaign for it effectively and with the passion and heart our children deserve?
Through interactive sessions, discussions, and collaborative learning, Our Kids’ Climate’s Clean Energy Campaigns Training Program will build knowledge and understanding of the renewable energy landscape, share campaign successes and challenges, and spark creative ideas for parent-led renewables campaigning.
The training will also feature leading clean energy campaigners from within and beyond our community. The first session is scheduled for Tuesday, 26 May. Sessions will be held monthly until November, and will last for 90 minutes each.
We are holding two sessions to accommodate different timezones.
● Session 1: 9:00 AM (UTC) – Check your local time here
● Session 2: 3:00 PM (UTC) – Check your local time here
Our Kids’ Climate co-created this training with the Tidal Collective, a team of expert campaigners and movement-builders on clean energy, most recently at the global climate movement organization, 350.org.
We warmly encourage parents, grandparents, or family-focused climate organizers who are campaigning, or want to campaign, on clean energy in their local context to join this training program.
Please find the full learning journey below. Those wanting to participate and not yet registered, or part of our community, should email hello@ourkidsclimate.org
The Learning Journey (May – November 2026)
1. If Renewables Work — What’s Slowing Us Down?
Renewable Energy 101 | 26 May
Cut through myths, unpack the system, and map the real blockers, from fossil lobbies to finance and politics. Start identifying barriers to change in your own context.
2. Who Is the Transition Really For?
Justice & Equity | 30 June
Shift the focus to people. Explore energy justice, inequality, and power. Define who you’re trying to move and influence, and why it matters.
3. Energy Is Power — Who Controls It?
Security, Conflict & Geopolitics | 28 July
Understand how energy shapes war, stability, and independence — and how renewables fit into that picture. Learn to frame clean energy through security and resilience, connecting with audiences beyond the climate bubble.
4. Pressure Creates Change
What Actually Works | 1 September
Break down real campaigns: what worked, what didn’t, and why. Explore campaign tactics you can apply immediately.
5. People Back What They Benefit From
Local & Community Energy | 29 September
Explore models that make energy tangible — ownership, benefits, and trust. Design a local campaign/organizing entry point for your context.
6. Who Cares About Megawatts?
Everyday Life & Energy | 27 October
Connect clean energy to health, jobs, cost of living, and daily life. Match issues → audiences → messages and map allies to develop campaigns that will resonate with families from different backgrounds. Connect local campaigns to global moments.
7. Narratives Win – Or Lose – Transitions
Storytelling & Campaign Moment | 24 November
Turn insights into action. Build narratives that unlock change and identify key moments (e.g. COP31 and beyond). Co-create a campaign strategy and shared action opportunity.
