Have a Heart: Children and Mothers Call on Negotiators to Protect What We Love at COP30
What: Mother and children’s press conference
When: Tuesday 11 November at 2.30-3pm
Where: COP30, Press Conference 2 Area D
Join children and mothers – brought together by the Alana Institute and Our Kids’ Climate – for a heartfelt press conference urging negotiators to make COP30 a COP of care.
The mothers and children will outline how the climate crisis is already impacting them and their families, and why children need to be central to the COP30 climate talks.
Speakers will include members of Alana Institute’s Children and Nature Fellowship aged 13-18, and Our Kids’ Climate’s delegation of Brazilian mothers. These include a mother from Belém, and a mother whose family was caught up in the devastating floods in Rio Grande do Sul in May 2024, as well as parents from São Paulo. The children are from Colombia, Brazil, Madagascar, Mexico, and the USA.
The Alana Institute is a global child rights organization based in Brazil. Our Kids’ Climate supports parents taking climate action in over 50 countries.
Maya Mailer, co-director of Our Kids’ Climate, and Laís Fleury from Alana will also be at the press conference.
